Robert E. “Bob” Ratliff, 60, Anderson, died July 5, 2007, at Saint John’s Medical Center after an extended illness.

He was born June 20, 1947, in Morristown, Tenn., and resided in Anderson most of his life.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam aboard the USS Maddox. He was also awarded the Bronze Star.

He retired in 1996 from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 30 years of service. He was also the owner of Ratliff Auto Sales.

He was a 1965 graduate of Madison Heights High School.

Bob was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars 266 and United Auto Workers Local 662. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to fish and camp. His family was very important to him.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Linda (Bailey) Ratliff; children, Colin Michael and wife Marnie Ratliff of Chesterfield, Michelle and husband Jose Rosales of Anderson and Heather Downey of Anderson; special brothers and sisters, Ellie and husband Jeff Hamm of New Castle, and Michael and wife Beth Cook of Ohio; aunt and uncle, Allie Brewer of Tennessee and Paul and Inel Ratliff of Tennessee; cousins, Jack and Jan Baker, Jean Miriacle, Bill Gibson and Gerrie Earl; grandchildren, Micha Browning, Savannah Browning and Hayley Downey. Also surviving are a host of special friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Arkie (Hatfield) Ratliff; father, Mark H. Ratliff; and stepmom, Juanita Ratliff.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Brian Eddy and his entire staff, as well as Dr. Bright.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2007 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, with Pastor Hervey Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2007 at the South Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kyle Petty's Victory Junction Gang Camp.
