Note
from Mike Richey, classmate…
The viewing is today (Thursday) from 3
to 8 pm and the funeral is Friday at 10 am in the Loose South Chapel. I
lived in the same nieghborhood as Terry for a couple years and knew his
family well. His dad, Chet, died suddenly at work of a heart attack when he
was only 55 years old. His mother, JoAnn, died just a few years ago. I can't
remember exactly, but I last saw her in Florida four years ago. Mike

Man died of heart attack, not crash
Investigators say an Anderson man
died of natural causes and was not killed as a result of a chain-reaction
crash involving two other vehicles.
Terry Plew, 59, died of a heart
attack, according to officials with the Madison County Coroner’s Office.
Police believe that Plew suffered
a heart attack while driving a 2001 Chevrolet S10 eastbound on 38th Street,
near Columbus Avenue, shortly before noon on Monday.
Plew crashed into the rear of a
1999 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 24-year-old Carrie T. Hyatt, Anderson.
Hyatt then rear-ended a stopped
2000 Ford Contour driven by Clerisa Eiler, 22, Anderson.
Anderson Fire Department medics
took the three to Saint John’s Hospital, where Plew was pronounced dead,
according to police. Hyatt and Eiler complained of pain, but their injuries
weren’t considered life-threatening.
Anderson Police Detective Joel
Sandefur, who is the department’s spokesman, said the three were wearing
seat belts.
6:12
p.m.: Anderson police investigating cause of fatal crash...
Anderson police are investigating whether a
driver’s death was related to a vehicle crash or a medical condition shortly
before noon Monday.
Anderson police Detective Joel
Sandefur said Terry Plew, 59, Anderson, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet S10
pickup eastbound on 38th Street, near intersection of Columbus Avenue, at
about 11:50 a.m.
While the crash remains under
investigation, police suspect Plew suffered some type of medical emergency
that likely caused him to rear-end a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu driven by
24-year-old Carry T. Hyatt, Anderson, Sandefur said.
Hyatt’s Malibu then struck the
rear of a stopped 2000 Ford Contour driven by 22-year-old Clerisa Eiler,
Anderson.
Anderson Fire Department medics
took Plew to Saint John’s Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead,
Sandefur said. Hyatt and Eiler was also taken to Saint John’s for treatment
after complaining of pain.
Investigators are still trying to
determine if Plew’s death was caused by the crash, or the medical condition.
Investigators weren’t immediately sure the nature of Plew’s medical
condition. Cause of Plew’s death is being investigated by the Madison County
Coroner’s Office, Sandefur said.
Police didn’t release whether
Plew or the other drivers were wearing seat belts.
