Richard Lee Wertz, 59, passed
away from a sudden heart attack, October 2, 2005. He was born December
6, 1946, Anderson, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents
Jeannette (Jerabek) Wertz and Wilford W. Wertz. He is survived by a
brother, Mike; two sisters, Linda Foernzler and Sandi Webb; 8
nieces/nephews; and 12 great nieces/nephews.
After high school, Dick attended Purdue University.
He served in the Intelligence division in United States Air Force,
ranking E-3 when dischaged. He was involved in reconniscence missions
over Vietnam. After the service, Dick had held a few jobs, but lived
out his remaining years on disability due to the
illness, schizophrenia.
His remaining 15 years he resided in San Francisco.
His greatest past time was going to the Oakland A's baseball games and
collecting autographed balls. He also had a couple of cratefuls of
autograped pictures and memorabilia from celebrites of stage and film.
Although the illness when not medicated creates depression and
paranoia, in latter years he remarked that he no longer heard voices.
Those who knew Dick in high school should know that Dick never lost his
good sence of humor nor gentle spirit.
