Senior Week

1964 Traditional Junior-Senior Mud Tug

Heave! Heave! The tug of war has had a place in our school traditions for five years. Each team, consisting of ten students, grasped the taunt rope ten feet from the treacherous hole. At the sound of the gun, moans and groans from the strugglers were heard amidst the cries of the spectators.

Junior girls proved to be more powerful than the senior girls. Straining their muscles for what seemed like an eternity, the juniors edged the seniors in the slimy pit of mud.

What a mess! Overpowered juniors inspect the damage after their rollicking swim in the muck.

Most spectators missed the real show when junior, Charles Huston, feeling guilty because he had not been pulled into the muck with the rest of his beaten comrades, took a head-first leap into the three-foot pit of mud.
