"Alan & I enjoyed being at the mini class reunion. Thanks for helping to
organize it. The following are just a few of my running highlights.
I've been running for about 40 years and have run
lots of races at distances up to a marathon. I probably had my greatest
success as a marathon runner. From 1978 to 1989, I ran 18 marathons (26
miles 385 yards). Of those, I was first in the women's division in 5 of
them.
In December of 1983, I won the women's division of
the St. Louis Marathon in a time of 2:50:06 which was a personal best and
qualified me to run the 1984 Olympic Trials Marathon.
In 1988, I came in 4th in the women's masters
division (age 40+)of the Boston Marathon in a time of 2:54:58.
I don't devote nearly as much time to running as I
used to; most of the races that I do now are 5 miles or less in length. Most
recently, I ran the 5 km race at the National Senior Games in Louisville KY
in late June of this year. I came in first in the women's 60-64 age group
with a time of 21:39, which set a new National Senior Games age group
record. Second place in my age group was over 2 minutes behind me.
I enjoy running and hope be able to continue racing
competitively for many years.
That's all for now. I hope you enjoy reading this.
