Although Kathy moved and attended Anderson High School her
senior year, she still considers herself a pirate and a member of the MHHS
Class of 1965.
Gary
served in the U.S. Army from 1966 - 1969, served in Vietnam and worked in
communications.
He re-inlisted in the U.S. Army in 1981 at age 35. (Gary
scored a perfect 300 on his PFT after being excluded from going through
basic training for a second time. He was an award winning body builder at
the time.) They were lucky enough to be
stationed in Hawaii and Colorado Springs. Gary as injured while on active
duty in Colorado and was medically retired in 1989 while living in Texas.
The Army had to set him up for rehabilitation and Gary picked leather work,
which turned into a full time hobby. Gary has been a custom saddle maker for
the past 15 years.
Gary and Kathy moved back to Indiana in 1989 and have lived
in Alexandria since then. They have pretty much retired now. They have four
(4) children, five (5) grandchildren, five (5) grandcats, and one (1)
granddog. They are also blessed to still have Gary's mother, Maurine, with
them. The family celebrated her 91st birthday in August of 2004.
