Currently, Mary Jo is living in Anderson, IN with husband, Gary. As of 2004, they have two children, Jennifer (37) and Michael (34) and
three (3) grandchildren.

Craig Dunkin likes to take credit for Mary Jo's success in Bookkeeping Class, but if you want to know the real story, ask Mary Jo. Mary Jo has utilized her accounting skills to assist social service agencies for the past 22 years and 11 years ago she accepted the CEO position of Alternatives Incorporated, a domestic violence shelter and outreach program serving five counties in Central Indiana. The agency has many connections to the MHHS Class of 1965, including volunteers Marsha Kahle Dunkin, Geogeann Hammond Whitworth, and Becky Hilligoss Rogers. Many classmates are donors to the agency and Mary Jo invites everyone to become a donor. Alternatives has Nancy Butz Graham from the 1965 Anderson Indians Class and Michael Gallamore (Pat Hitz Gallamore's husband) MHHS 1964 working on their capital campaign to build a new shelter. Nicki Stephenson Ross and Michaela McMahan Richardson are also lending a hand with the campaign. The agency's highest award is given in memory of Elizabeth Howard McMahan (Jane McMahan's Mother) who was instrumental in the agency's founding.
